Predestination is biblical and is often misunderstood. Before the foundation of the earth, God chose some people to be objects of mercy and some to be objects of wrath-without any influence based on what we would do or had done.

Some Christians call it predestination vs. free will. Scientists and psychologists look at similar debates from their own terms-nature verses nurture. The topic of predestination is not a topic of little debate. The current debates are quite interesting. The doctrine of predestination within the church is often considered to be highly important.

If you believe that the Bible contains inspired objective truth, then you are obligated to the doctrine of predestination, for it is discussed (well in depth) in the new testament specifically (Romans 8:29, 30, Ephesians 1:5, 11, 1 Corinthians 2:7, Acts 4:28). The entire canon reveals an election by God for his people unto salvation. So then, how you define predestination makes all the difference.
